CARICATURE IS EVERYWHERE!
You can’t separate caricature from identity. The two go hand-in-hand.
We live in a world of “identity crisis.” Public schools, reportedly, are teaching children they can choose if they want to be a boy or a girl. They can pick their own pronouns (he or she) and can even change their mind later, if they choose to do so.
Chromosomes no longer matter — according to this new social order.
The result is that ”caricatures are everywhere”!
That’s not necessarily a good thing!
THE MAKING OF A CARICATURE
We use caricature to promote a deeper understanding of vocations, especially for the laity. We tell folks:
God calls. We respond. And life happens.— Catholic Roads
What if God were calling you right now? And what if you did not know who you were? What if your self-concept was a mere caricature of the real person God made you to be? Would you respond? Could you respond?
We also tell folks:
You either be what God made you to be, or you risk becoming something that you are not — a caricature of the real you!— Catholic Roads
We love caricature art, and it has its place among the faithful in society. But we must be careful that we don’t become a caricature of ourselves!
A SIMPLE PLAN
You have to have a plan. A simple, flexible plan will do. Here’s a simple, three-point approach that we teach folks:
- Who are you?
- Where are you going?
- How will you get there?
When you can answer those three points with some certainty, you’re ready to move forward with your vocation — and your career. Obviously, there are resources out there to help you determine who you are (your gifts and talents, your skills and abilities, etc.). The same is true for where you’re going (and, in particular, your next steps on your life’s journey), as well as how to accomplish the various steps on the way to your destination.
We’ll be providing more detail in our blog articles and other resources here on our website.
