OUR STORY …
Herman got a direct hotline to the Vatican recently where he is now able to keep up with what’s going on behind the walls. Not surprisingly, the recent unpleasant events in Germany with the Bishop’s synod there is getting a lot of attention both in heaven and here on earth.
Apparently, just a night or two ago, the Good Lord paid Pope Francis a little visit during the hour of Divine Conversation (3:00 am). By the sound of things, the Lord was well-pleased for the moment, at least, with the Vatican’s response to the ultra-liberal German Bishops who are at the threshold of schism as they experience both a money crunch (largely from the Church Tax) there and a decline in attendance.
IT IS WRITTEN …
The Bible is clear about whether we should be “people pleasers” or not. You definitely don’t want to be a people pleaser on issues of Church doctrine. And you don’t want to tamper with what God has revealed directly to us through Sacred Tradition and Sacred Scripture
The Bible says, “But just as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the message of the Gospel, even so we speak, not to please mortals, but to please God who tests our hearts.” (1 Thes 2:4, NRSVCE)
As if to be certain we understood, it says elsewhere, “Whatever your task, put yourselves into it, as done for the Lord and not for your masters …” (Col 3:23)
And the Catechism reminds us that we are under a new covenant — a New Testament. It says, “The first Christian communities lived this form of fellowship intensely. Thus the Apostle Paul gives them a share in his ministry of preaching the Gospel but also intercedes for them. The intercession of Christians recognizes no boundaries: “for all men, for kings and all who are in high positions,” for persecutors, for the salvation of those who reject the Gospel.” (CCC 2636)
LIFE GOES ON …
Though the Pontiff has been accused by many “rad trads” of looking for an open door to make same-sex marriages acceptable, nothing seems to be further from the truth. In fact, Pope Francis has taken a hard line stance on upholding key doctrines associated with marriage and family.
Based on our “insider information” about the inner workings at the Vatican, it appears that God is watching this situation very closely. And He also seems to be keeping close tabs on the Holy Father.
For some in the shadows of the Vatican, it appears that they will soon have to decide whether they will continue as people pleasers or become God pleasers.
Stay tuned. That’s our story and we’re sticking to it. It’s cool to be Catholic. Cool2B!
