The Pope really does attract a lot of criticism. In fact, the level of vitriol towards him is very disappointing. Whether we like him or not, He is the Pope. And Jesus is still in charge of the Church and protecting it (Mt 16:18).
About The Cartoon …
This cartoon is a little satire about the level of angry criticism going his way from Catholics. We were careful to draw “Papa” with what can be described as an almost naive reaction to the hatred. In the background we see a bishop who does get it. He is stunned and hurt by the reaction of Catholics.
Food For Thought …
That does raise another issue. Maybe it would be fun to draw a series of “Pope Francis Memes” for social media and the blog. We’ll think about that for awhile.
