Secret Places

But whenever you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you. (Mt 6:6, NRSVCE)

One of our favorite things is visiting “secret places.” A secret place is a special place you visit almost by accident. It surprises you greatly, and few of your friends know anything about it that really matters. Yes, a secret place is an amazing destination that you feel privileged to have found and enjoyed.

To better understand, let’s highlight a few destinations probably all of us can agree are NOT secret places. How about Manhattan in New York City! And what about Disneyland in Orlando! We’re guessing you could quickly come up with a dozen more so we’ll stop there. Those are great locations, but they’re not places we plan to highlight on the Catholic Roads blog. Instead we’ll focus on travel secrets that seem to find us as we make our way along the world’s Catholic roads.

As usual, our goal is “Shrines! Wines! And Interesting People!” That means we’re making new friends, eating great food, seeing special places, drawing fun caricatures, and sketching some really remarkable buildings. And best of all, we’re sharing them with you and inviting you to visit them too.

Catholic roads are everywhere, and they’ll take you to some memorable places too! That’s because Catholic is cool, folks — really cool!

In Christ.
